Blitzkuchen
2 cupsflour
1.5 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon rum
.5 oz. sliced almonds
grated lemon rind
2 eggs
3 cups sugar
Mix butter, flour, sugar, vanilla, rum and egg yolks by hand until all the dough comes easily off bowl.
Grease jelly roll pan and spread dough evenly and thinly around pan. Pat with hands.
Beat egg whites until stiff and spread over dough in the pan.
Sprinkle sugar, lemon rind, and almonds over egg whites.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until brown, and cut while hot.
